How to light outdoor areas

Sometimes, less attention has been paid to exterior lighting than to interior lighting. Today, the increased appreciation for landscaping (in the same way that interior design has) has led to a renewed appreciation for lighting in outdoor spaces.
House facades, gardens, patios, and in general all outdoor areas, will gain greater prominence with the investment in lighting. However, for this to provide optimal results, a series of guidelines must be taken into account.
Types of lighting that can be installed outdoors
First, we must remember that the lighting used should be related to the purpose it needs to illuminate in each outdoor space:
General. For spaces that stand out for their multiple uses. For example, sports courts, swimming pools, etc.
Accent lighting. Within a given context, it highlights an element intended to be given special importance (understood as having a hierarchy over the others). An artistic portico, a porch, a fountain, a statue, for example.
Dedicated. As its name indicates, it serves a specific function. Its intensity will be moderate and will not cause glare. Examples include the lights on a shed or the entrance to a garage, house, or gate.
Decorative. Besides providing warmth to the environment, it is part of the aesthetic and seeks to generate feelings in those who see it. Here we can think of lanterns or garlands.
Courtesy lights. These are lights that facilitate movement through certain spaces. Among them, we highlight those that allow passage along certain walkways or paths in the garden.
LED Lamps and Bulbs as Solutions to Consider
The example of courtesy lights is particularly interesting, given that LEDs have become extremely useful precisely for this function. Today, we must especially appreciate that new technologies allow for a range of automated systems that provide both convenience and savings. These lights can be switched on only when needed. A motion sensor can ensure they turn on simply when someone passes by. By operating only when necessary, these lights result in considerable savings. This saving is in addition to the savings that energy-efficient materials offer compared to conventional bulbs. The rational use of light and reducing our environmental impact are increasingly valued.
